Research

I aim to facilitate a sustainable poultry production by reducing the climate footprint at product and farm level via optimal nutrition, feeding and management and without compromising animal welfare and final product quality.

Teaching activities

I am experienced in teaching poultry production with focus on nutrition and welfare to students at all educational levels ranging from young farmers to Master students in Animal and Veterinary Science and Ph.D. students.  In relation to my teaching activities, I have contributed to 2 textbooks regarding layers and broilers and have prepared a wide range of own teaching materials.  I have also participated in the supervision of master and PhD students.

Collaborations

Over the years I have developed a solid network with the industry and research institutions. Most of my publications come out of extensive cooperation with the industry and research institutions. The industry partners involved in various of my research projects comprise both small and large national and international companies, involved in the production of feed, feed additives, poultry housing and slaughtering and processing of broiler chickens, table eggs and hatching eggs.

Consultancy

During my employment at SEGES Innovation, I worked as an advisor for poultry farmers, poultry companies, lawyers, for the Danish Ministry
of Foreign Affairs and for the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration.
