Ernæring af énmavede dyr

What We Do

We work on developing an effective and sustainable production primarily on pigs, poultry, and insects. The efforts of our research in nutrition and physiology will secure a resource efficient, environmentally and climate sound production of healthy and secure domestic animal foods from animals with optimal welfare and health.

Our primary focus areas

  • Nutrition and feedstuffs for pigs, poultry, and insects
  • Developing research area on sustainable pet food and nutrition of horses
  • Feeding strategies for reduction of environmental impact (of N, P, Zn and other heavy metals)
  • Reducing climate impact by developing feedstuffs, diets and feed supplements
  • Resource utilization and development of sustainable feedstuffs in a circular bio-economy perspective
  • Promote biodiversity through alternative feedstuffs, agro-forestry and mixed animal-crop production systems
  • Improve organic animal production by developing sustainable feedstuffs and feeding strategies
  • Feeding to prevent weaning diarrhea and to reduce use of medicine
  • Basic aspects of digestion, metabolism and bioactive components in animals and humans
  • Establishing nutrient requirements in relation to age, physiological stages and genotypes
  • Feeding and production diseases during the transition periods around weaning and parturition
  • Quantification of the metabolism of nutrients at organ and animal level
  • Regulation of the responses and identification of biomarkers for metabolic status/physiological status
