Professor from the Department of Animal Science appointed member of the Board of the Pig Production Tax Foundation
As per November 1, professor Hanne Damgaard Poulsen from the Department of Animal Science at Aarhus University has been appointed member of the Board of the Pig Production Tax Foundation.
Upon recommendation from the Danish Council for Independent Research, the Consumers’ Advisory Council Tænk, and the labour movement’s board of trade, the Danish minister of Environment and Food, Esben Lunde Larsen, has, as per November 1, appointed professor Hanne Damgaard Poulsen, the Department of Animal Science, member of the Board of the Pig Production Tax Foundation for a period of four years.
Hanne originally graduated as a biologist and later took a PhD. Since 1984 she has worked as a scientist and today Hanne is employed as a professor and Section Manager at the Department of Animal Science, Section for Animal Nutrition and Physiology. Here Hanne’s research effort primarily focuses on livestock production and nutrition physiology, including the nutrient metabolism of farm animals with focus on the mineral accessibility of the feedstuffs and the animals’ need for, utilization of and excretion of minerals. Further, Hanne is involved in teaching on the agrobiology programme and is supervisor for both master and PhD students. Hanne is chairman of the department’s committee for public sector consultancy and is involved in a number of public sector consultancy tasks in relation to Danish farm animals’ utilization of e.g. phosphorus, nitrogen, zinc and copper.
About the Pig Production Tax Foundation
The Pig Production Tax Foundation is administered by the Danish Agriculture & Food Council and has as its aim to strengthen the potentiality and competitiveness of the entire pork sector and can provide support to sales promotion, research and studies, product development, counseling, education, disease prevention, disease control, animal welfare and control. The funds of the Pig Production Tax Foundation originate from a so-called production levy claimed by the Foundation for each slaughtered and exported pig in Denmark. Further, every year the Foundation applies for subsidies from the Pro Mille Tax Foundation for Agriculture.
