Professorship position: Professor in Sustainable Dairy Production
Would you like to lead the research and innovation in sustainable dairy production systems with focus on optimal use of novel feeds at Aarhus University? The Department of Animal Science invites highly qualified applicants for a professorship in Sustainable Dairy Production. The position is available from 1st of June 2018.
A professorship position in sustainable dairy production is available from 1st of June 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. The professorship is initiated in a 5 year joint AU-Arla project with a yearly budget of 1.5 mio. Dkr.
Arla wishes to support research and innovation in resource efficient feed value chains and in cow feed rations resulting in healthy milk for healthy dairy products.
Aarhus University (AU) has established the Centre for Circular Bioeconomy (CBIO) that will co-fund the professorship.
Your tasks
The overall scope is to lead basic, strategic and applied research and innovation with special emphasis on conceptual development of sustainable dairy production systems emphasising an optimal use of land and marine based raw materials and co-products for novel feeds to further improve the overall sustainability of the dairy system.
You are expected to:
- Lead the research and innovation of conceptual development of livestock production systems by introducing new feeds with high overall sustainability regarding climate impact, nutrient leaching, biodiversity loss, etc.
- Be a leading researcher and key player in projects that cover the whole chain from sustainable intensification of biomass production via extraction and separation technologies to optimal use of the products in livestock
- Be a leading researcher and key player in more sustainable dairy production in both organic and conventional production systems.
- Attract substantial external funding for research and innovation in sustainable feed production and feeding.
Your qualifications
Qualifications for full professor level at Aarhus University include e.g. very strong academic background in in relevant topics, documented successful grant writing and experience with project management, industrial/public sector collaboration, as well as teaching and supervision experience. The place of employment is Aarhus University (AU) and the place of work is the Department of Animal Science, Science and Technology, Blichers Allé 20, DK-8830 Tjele. Teaching activities are primarily conducted at AU-Campus, 8000 Aarhus.
