Associate Professor or Senior Scientist in Immunological Methods and Immune System of Production Animals

Do you have broad research expertise in basic immunology and host-pathogen interaction? The Department of Animal Science, Aarhus University, invites highly qualified applicants for a position in immunological methods and immune system of production animals available from 1 January 2019 or soon thereafter.

Department of Animal Science seeks candidates with broad expertise in basic immunology and host-pathogen interaction and with particular focus on developing immunological methods of analysis in domestic animals.

Your tasks

Research areas of interest include basic aspects of the immune system, disease resistance, mechanisms for vaccine response and vaccines or immunotherapy. In particular, we request candidates who can:

  • strengthen the Department’s laboratory platform for research in immunology, host pathogen interaction and prevention of infectious diseases,
  • take initiatives in interdisciplinary research together with national and international research and industry partners,
  • attract external funding to establish a successful research programme and your own research team, 
  • participate in teaching and supervising students at the Bachelor, Master and PhD levels,
  • contribute to the research-based basis for tasks of the Ministry regarding immunology and disease resistance in poultry and other livestock animals,
  • participate in knowledge exchange with society and industry.

 

Your profile

Qualifications for the associate professor or senior scientist at Aarhus University include:

  • a relevant research profile, documented by a strong scientific publication record,
  • successful grant writing, 
  • experience with project management,
  • industrial/public sector collaboration,
  • teaching and supervision experience.

The place of employment is Aarhus University (AU), and the place of work is the Department of Animal Science, Science and Technology, Blichers Allé 20, DK-8830 Tjele. Teaching activities are primarily conducted at AU-Campus, 8000 Aarhus.
