Researcher/assistant professor in interactions between disease management, herd health and production
The Department of Animal Science, Aarhus University, invites highly qualified applicants for a position in interactions between disease management, herd health and production available from 1 November 2018.

Your tasks
The research tasks are to develop methods for assessing effect of management decisions for herd health and welfare, including, for example, effects on usage of antibiotics and productivity. The research activities are interdisciplinary and include collaboration with authorities and the livestock industry. The researcher/assistant professor is expected to:
- take initiatives in interdisciplinary research together with national and international research and industry partners,
- to ensure external funding to establish a successful research programme and his/her own research team,
- contribute as an expert consultant providing research-based consultancy to authorities,
- participate in knowledge exchange with society and industry,
- contribute to research-based teaching and supervision of students at the Bachelor, Master and PhD levels.
Your profile
We seek a candidate with a strong background in livestock herd management research or a strong background in relevant application of statistical modelling. The desired candidate will have:
- minimum two years’ experience as postdoc with a relevant research profile and a strong scientific publication record,
- experience with herd health management of the major production diseases,
- experience with development of quantitative management tools within the cattle production,
- experience and/or expertise in regulatory impact analysis,
- strong skills in data handling and epidemiology.

The place of employment is Aarhus University (AU), and the place of work is the Department of Animal Science, Science and Technology, Blichers Allé 20, DK-8830 Tjele. Teaching activities are primarily conducted at AU-Campus, 8000 Aarhus.
