Scientific career position in Applied Biometrics

The Department of Animal Science, Aarhus University, invites highly qualified applicants for a position in applied biometrics available from 1 November 2018 or soon thereafter. You can apply for the positions in Applied Biometrics at either assistant professor/researcher or associate professor/senior scientist level.

An internationally excellent applicant at assistant professor/researcher level has the opportunity to achieve a tenure track position. This means that the successful candidate will be appointed for a period of six years with the prospect of performance-based advancement to a tenured position as associate professor or senior scientist.

Internationally excellent applicants have the opportunity to achieve a competitive starting grant to boost the building of their research team.    


Your tasks

The main activity of the announced position will be research and support to scientists in statistical methods and analyses in relation to animal science topics. A variety of statistical methods and analyses is needed to cover the activities in the department. An activity could be development of models to predict changes in physiological status, risk of disease, welfare, environmental impact and performance of the animals. The successful candidate is expected to: 

  • take initiatives in interdisciplinary research together with national and international research and industry partners,
  • ensure external funding to establish a successful research programme and their own research team, 
  • participate in providing research-based consultancy to authorities,
  • participate in knowledge exchange with society and industry,
  • participate in teaching and supervising students at the Bachelor, Master and PhD levels. 


Your profile

  • Qualifications for the researcher/assistant professor/tenure track levels at Aarhus University include minimum two years’ experience at postdoc level with a relevant research profile and a strong scientific publication record,

  • You are expected to have successful grant writing and experience with project management, industrial/public sector collaboration, as well as teaching and supervision experience.


 Your place of employment and work

The place of employment is Aarhus University (AU) and the place of work is the Department of Animal Science, Science and Technology, Blichers Allé 20, DK-8830 Tjele. Teaching activities are primarily conducted at AU-Campus, DK-8000 Aarhus.
