Scientific career positions in physiology, nutrition and disease prevention of monogastric animals
The Department of Animal Science, Aarhus University, invites highly qualified applicants for three positions in sustainable feeding and nutritional physiology and disease prevention of monogastric production animals available from 1 November 2018 or soon thereafter.
You can apply for the positions in physiology, nutrition and disease prevention of monogastric animals at either assistant professor/researcher or associate professor/senior scientist level.
An internationally excellent applicant at assistant professor/researcher level has the opportunity to achieve a tenure track position. This means that the successful candidate will be appointed for a period of six years with the prospect of performance-based advancement to a tenured position as associate professor or senior scientist.
Internationally excellent applicants have the opportunity to achieve a competitive starting grant to boost the building of their research team.
Your tasks
The main activity will be to conduct and develop research, research-based teaching and to contribute as an expert consultant to the Danish authorities. The positions will strengthen and complement the Department’s strong research environment in animal physiology, immunology, nutrition and feeding of pigs, poultry and mink. The overall scope is to facilitate a sustainable and robust animal production with special focus on nutritional intervention.
You are expected to:
- take initiatives in interdisciplinary research together with national and international research and industry partners,
- ensure external funding to establish a successful research programme and your own research team,
- within your area of expertise, participate in providing research-based consultancy to authorities,
- participate in knowledge exchange with society and industry,
- be responsible for teaching and supervising students at the Bachelor, Master and PhD levels as well as young researchers and technical staff.
Your profile
Qualifications for the assistant professor/tenure track level at Aarhus University include:
- minimum two years’ experience at postdoc level with a relevant research profile,
- a strong scientific publication record in one or more of the areas of the positions as described for the positions (see link).
Qualifications for the associate professor/senior scientist level at Aarhus University include:
- a relevant research profile in one or more areas of the positions, see link, documented by a strong scientific publication record,
- successful grant writing and experience with project management,
- industrial/public sector collaboration,
- teaching and supervision experience.

The place of employment is Aarhus University (AU), and the place of work is the Department of Animal Science, Science and Technology, Blichers Allé 20, DK-8830 Tjele. Teaching activities are primarily conducted at AU-Campus, 8000 Aarhus.
